Introduction

In spite of the basic needs of Egypt to have excellent geologists because of the topographic nature of the country, the number of students decreases from year to year. Although the courses curricula for geology students at Assiut University are rich, the geology graduates are weak . This is partly related to the poor quality of teaching and partly to the unavailability of teaching aids, lab facilities, and low performance of the technical and assistant staff.

Both, the teaching and learning processes did not change with time. No wonder that students find studying geology boring in this digital age compared with other majors that are dynamic with time. In labs, the students' microscopes have not been changed since the establishment of the university in 1957. Can you imagine how the optics of these microscopes are now? No computer lab for geology students to use information technology and enhance their skills. Besides, the poor situation of the infrastructure where the students get their lectures and lab works. Since 1957, the geology labs and lecture rooms have not been renovated (can you imagine how the benches, the floors, the walls, the cupboards look like?) The technical and assistant staff in geology labs are neither trained nor equipped to do their job efficiently using modern means of work.
